Sad day with a cheerful ending...
Sadly, today was my last day working at the Orientation & First-Year Programs office. It definitely started to sink in when I handed in my office key, erased my name off the check-in board, and took down my office star. Even now I'm still slightly in denial...I keep thinking that I'll be going back to work on monday and do the usual: chill with Shannon in the front, talk about coffee woes with Bill, try to answer the wide of array of questions (some legitimate, some absolutely insane) that come through on the phone.... I think my favorite part about my job was all of the people that I was surrounded by. I'm truly sad to leave behind the friends that I've made at OFYP.
But, as one chapter of my life comes to an end, another one begins. When I came back from work today I was feeling really quite sorry for myself until I found out some excellent news! I will be interning at the Institute of Criminal Policy Research at the Law School of King's College London!!! Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and grinning from ear to ear! This is exactly what I was hoping for and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to do this (www.kcl.ac.uk/icpr)! I think this internship will really help me to determine my future career plans. I couldn't have asked for anything more!
So, moral of the story, sad endings bring happy beginnngs!

Sounds like a valuable moral, one that we will apply as we bid adieu to 2006. While waiting for the new year, we'll be checking the tube stops and bus routes between your flat and the ICPR. We're counting on you to conquer the bus system before we arrive for a visit. Happy Saturday! (and what happened to those Gophers? Ouch!).
